Succinimide anticonvulsants are thought to increase the seizure threshold, inhibit T-type calcium channels and inhibit the three-cycle per second thalamic 'spike and wave' discharge in absence seizures. Succinimide anticonvulsants are mostly used to treat absence seizures.
