Limited information indicates that fosfomycin produces low levels in milk and is unlikely to be absorbed well by the infant because of the binding to calcium in the milk.[1] It is unlikely to cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants.
Maternal Levels. After 1 to 2 grams of fosfomycin given by injection, colostrum levels in 2 women were 4.8 mg/L and milk levels were 3.6 mg/L.[2,3] Further details of the studies were not given.
