Serious side effects of Clevidipine
Along with its needed effects, clevidipine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking clevidipine:
More common
- Agitation
- confusion
- decreased urine output
- depression
- dizziness
- fainting
- fast or irregular heartbeat
- headache
- hostility
- irritability
- lethargy
- loss of consciousness
- muscle twitching
- nausea
- rapid weight gain
- seizures (convulsions)
- stupor
- swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
- unusual tiredness or weakness
Rare
- Chest pain or discomfort
- difficult or labored breathing
- pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
- shortness of breath
- stopping of the heart
- sweating
- tightness in the chest
- unconsciousness
- very low blood pressure or pulse
- vomiting
- wheezing

Atrial fibrillation, sinus tachycardia, and hypotension were frequently observed in the perioperative population.[Ref]
Cardiovascular
Very common (10% or more): Atrial fibrillation (up to 32.9%), sinus tachycardia (up to 30.5%), hypotension (up to 15.1%)
Common (1% to 10%): Flushing
Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Atrial flutter, tachycardia, congestive heart failure, bradycardia, complete atrioventricular block, bundle branch block
Frequency not reported: Myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest
Postmarketing reports: Reflex tachycardia[Ref]
Gastrointestinal
Very common (10% or more): Nausea (up to 21%)
Common (1% to 10%): Vomiting
