Drug Class: H. pylori eradication agents
Usual Adult Dose for Duodenal Ulcer
Amoxicillin 500 mg-clarithromycin 500 mg-omeprazole 20 mg orally 2 times a day
- Duration of therapy: 10 days
Comments:
- Doses should be given in the morning and evening before eating a meal.
- An additional 18 days of treatment with omeprazole 20 mg orally once a day is recommended for patients with an ulcer at initiation of treatment.
Use: Eradication of Helicobacter pylori in patients with active duodenal ulcer of a history of duodenal ulcer disease

Asian patients: Use is not recommended unless clearly needed.
Patients with severe renal dysfunction and hepatic dysfunction: Prolonged dose intervals should be considered.

Administration advice:
- This drug should be swallowed whole; chewing or crushing should be avoided.
- The regimen should be given before meals.
Storage requirements:
- Protect from light and moisture.
General:
- Eradication of H pylori reduces the risk of duodenal ulcer recurrence.
- This drug may be used in patients with active or a one-year history of duodenal ulcer.
Monitoring:
- Hepatic: Hepatic function tests
- Hematologic: Hematopoietic function tests
- Renal: Renal function tests
Patient advice:
- Tell patients that it is important to complete the full regimen.
- Instruct patients to seek medical attention if signs/symptoms of hypersensitivity, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, hypomagnesemia, or systemic cutaneous lupus erythematosus occur.
