Usual Adult Dose for Tinea Versicolor
Apply to the affected and immediate surrounding skin once a day for 2 weeks.
Comments:
- If no clinical improvement seen after treatment period, diagnosis and therapy should be reviewed.
- This drug was not studied in immunocompromised patients.
Use: For the topical treatment of the dermatologic infection tinea (pityriasis) versicolor due to Malassezia furfur (formerly Pityrosporum orbiculare)
Usual Adult Dose for Tinea Pedis
Apply to affected skin between and around the toes twice a day (morning and night) for 1 week or once a day for 4 weeks.
Comments:
- Unknown if effective on the bottom or sides of the foot
- Patients should wear well-fitting, ventilated shoes; they should change shoes and socks at least once a day.
Uses: For the treatment of most athlete's foot between the toes; for relief of itching, burning, cracking, and scaling with athlete's foot

Administration advice:
- For external use only; do not use on nails or scalp, in/near the mouth or eyes, or for vaginal yeast infections.
Storage requirements:
- Lotrimin Ultra(R): Store between 20C to 25C (68F to 77F).
- Mentax(R): Store between 5C and 30C (41F and 86F).
General:
- Diagnosis of the disease should be confirmed by culture on an appropriate medium (except M furfur) or by direct microscopic examination of infected superficial epidermal tissue in a solution of potassium hydroxide.
Patient advice:
- Wash affected skin with soap and water; dry completely before applying this drug.
- Wash hands after each application of this drug.
- Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, and other mucous membranes.
- Stop this drug and contact physician if irritation develops/worsens.
- Notify physician if irritation, redness, itching, swelling, oozing, burning, or blistering develop in the treated area.
