Usual Adult Dose for Osteoporosis
Prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women:
risedronate: 35 mg orally once a week.
calcium carbonate: 1250 mg orally with food once daily on each of the remaining 6 days of the week.

Risedronate should be administered with 6 to 8 ounces of plain water at least 30 minutes before the first food, beverage or medication of the day. Beverages other than water, food, and certain medications reduce the absorption of risedronate. Absorption may be improved by waiting more than 30 minutes before eating or drinking liquids other than water.
