Comments:

  • No studies have been conducted with this drug in patients with liver dysfunction; however, there have been reports of mometasone levels appearing to increase with severity of liver dysfunction.

Precautions

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

  • Known hypersensitivity to either active component or to any of the ingredients

Safety and efficacy have not been established in patients younger than 12 years.

Administration advice:

  • For nasal use only
  • Shake the bottle well before each use.
  • Before initial use, prime this drug by releasing 6 sprays; when this drug has not been used for at least 14 days, re-prime by releasing 2 sprays or until a fine mist appears.
  • Do not spray into the eyes or mouth.
  • Discard the bottle after 240 sprays have been used; the correct dose of medication may not be delivered even though the bottle may not be completely empty.

Storage requirements:
  • Store upright with dust cap on at room temperature (20C to 25C [68F to 77F]; excursions permitted to 15C to 30C [59F to 86F]).
  • Do not store in freezer or refrigerator.

General:
  • Each spray delivers 0.1 mL suspension containing mometasone furoate 25 mcg and olopatadine hydrochloride 665 mcg.

Monitoring:
  • Infections/Infestations: For evidence of Candida infection (periodically if used over several months or longer)
  • Musculoskeletal: Growth of pediatric patients (regularly during therapy)
  • Respiratory: For signs of adverse effects on the nasal mucosa (periodically)

Patient advice:
  • Read the US FDA-approved patient labeling (Patient Information and Instructions for Use).
  • Do not engage in hazardous activities requiring complete mental alertness and motor coordination (e.g., driving, operating machinery) after use of this drug; somnolence has been reported.
  • Avoid concurrent use of this drug with alcohol or other CNS depressants.
  • Discontinue this drug if hypersensitivity reactions (including wheezing) occur.
  • Avoid exposure to chickenpox or measles; if exposed, seek medical advice without delay.
