What is Ancobon?

Ancobon is an antifungal medication that fights infections caused by fungus.

Ancobon is used to treat serious fungal infections of the blood, lungs, heart, central nervous system, and urinary tract.

Ancobon is sometimes given with another medicine called amphotericin B.

Ancobon may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Warnings

Before you take Ancobon, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease.

How should I use Ancobon

Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

While using Ancobon, you may need frequent blood tests.

Take each dose with a full glass (8 ounces) of water.

Ancobon may cause nausea and vomiting. If you take more than one capsule per dose, swallow one capsule at a time over a 15-minute period to help prevent nausea and vomiting.

Use this medicine for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also increase your risk of further infection that is resistant to antifungal medicine. Ancobon will not treat a viral infection such as the flu or a common cold.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
