What is Andehist dm nr syrup?

Brompheniramine is an antihistamine. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant.

Andehist DM NR Syrup is a combination medicine used to treat cough, runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, and watery eyes caused by allergies or the common cold.

Andehist DM NR Syrup may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Warnings

Use only as directed. Tell your doctor if you use other medicines or have other medical conditions or allergies.

How should I use Andehist dm nr syrup

Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.

Follow all directions when giving this medicine to a child. Do not use the medicine to make a child sleepy. Misuse of this medicine may cause death in very young children.

Measure liquid medicine with the supplied measuring device (not a kitchen spoon).

Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 7 days, or if you have a fever, rash, or headaches.

If you need surgery or medical tests, tell the doctor ahead of time if you have taken this medicine within the past few days.

Store tightly closed at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.

Before Taking

You should not use this medicine if you are allergic to it brompheniramine, dextromethorphan, or pseudoephedrine, or if you have:

  • severe high blood pressure; or

  • severe coronary artery disease (clogged arteries).

Do not use Andehist DM NR Syrup if you have used an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, and tranylcypromine.

Tell your doctor if you have ever had:

  • asthma or COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease);

  • a cough with mucus, or a cough caused by smoking, asthma, or emphysema;

  • a blockage in your digestive tract (stomach or intestines);

  • a bladder obstruction or other urination problems;

  • high blood pressure, heart disease;

  • glaucoma;

  • diabetes; or

  • overactive thyroid.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant.

Do not breastfeed.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Andehist DM NR Syrup is used when needed. If you are on a dosing schedule, skip any missed dose. Do not use two doses at one time.

Do not take more than 6 doses in 24 hours.

What happens if I overdose?

Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222.

Overdose symptoms may include feeling depressed or restless, fast or irregular heartbeats, severe drowsiness, loss of coordination, or seizure.

What should I avoid while using Andehist dm nr syrup?

Ask a doctor or pharmacist before taking other cough or cold medicines that may contain similar ingredients.

Avoid driving or hazardous activity until you know how this medicine will affect you. Your reactions could be impaired.

Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated during exercise and in hot weather. This medicine can decrease sweating and you may be more prone to heat stroke.

Drinking alcohol with this medicine can cause side effects.

Andehist dm nr syrup side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

This medicine may cause serious side effects. Stop using this medicine and call your doctor at once if you have:

  • hallucinations;

  • a seizure;

  • painful or difficult urination;

  • a light-headed feeling, like you might pass out;

  • fast or pounding heartbeats;

  • pale skin, weakness, easy bruising or bleeding, fever, chills, body aches; or

  • severe headache, blurred vision, pounding in your neck or ears.

Common side effects of Andehist DM NR Syrup may include:

  • dizziness, drowsiness;

  • coughing up thick mucus;

  • feeling restless or excited (especially in children); or

  • dry mouth, nose, or throat.

Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicines that can cause drowsiness (such as opioid medication, sleep medicine, a muscle relaxer, or medicine for anxiety or seizures).
