What is Lan-o-soothe?

Lanolin is a natural substance found in sheep's wool. This product is made with manufacturing processes that reduce certain allergens in the lanolin.

Lan-O-Soothe (for the skin) is used to treat or prevent dry skin, itching or other skin irritation caused by conditions such as diaper rash, radiation therapy skin burns, and others.

Lan-O-Soothe is also used to treat sore and cracked nipples caused by breast-feeding.

Lan-O-Soothe may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Warnings

Follow all directions on the product label and package. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all your medical conditions, allergies, and all medicines you use.

How should I take Lan-o-soothe

Lan-O-Soothe is available in cream or ointment form. Use your medicine exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

Apply a small amount of lanolin topical to the affected area and rub in gently.

To use Lan-O-Soothe for sore nipples: Apply a pea-sized amount to the entire nipple area after each feeding. You do not need to wash off this medicine before breast-feeding again.

When using Lan-O-Soothe to treat or prevent diaper rash: Clean the diaper area well and allow it to dry thoroughly before applying the medicine. Apply at each diaper change as needed.

To treat or prevent radiation therapy skin burns: Ask your healthcare professional which brand to use and when to apply it (before or after each radiation treatment).

Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve, or if they get worse while using Lan-O-Soothe.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep the bottle or tube tightly closed when not in use.
