What is Pozelimab?
Pozelimab is for use in adults and children at least 1 year old to treat complement hyperactivation, angiopathic thrombosis, protein losing enteropathy (CHAPLE) syndrome.
Pozelimab may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Warnings
You should not use pozelimab if you have a meningococcal infection.
Tell your doctor if you have:
- an infection or fever.
Make sure you are current on all vaccines before you start using pozelimab. Talk to your doctor if you are not current on your vaccines.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
How should I use Pozelimab
Use Pozelimab (Injectable) exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets.
Pozelimab is injected into a vein and also under the skin by a healthcare provider.
You will be watched for a short time to make sure you do not have an allergic reaction.
You may need medical tests.
Call your doctor for instructions if you miss an appointment for your pozelimab injection.
Pozelimab side effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Read the Patient Wallet Card about the symptoms of meningococcal or other infections and learn what symptoms to watch for. Keep the card with you at all times.
You may get infections more easily, even serious or fatal infections. Call your doctor right away if you have signs of infection such as:
- fever, chills, sore throat;
- headache, neck stiffness, increased sensitivity to light;
- nausea, vomiting;
- confusion, drowsiness;
- mouth sores, red or swollen gums;
- pale skin, easy bruising, unusual bleeding; or
- chest discomfort, wheezing, dry cough or hack, rapid weight loss.
Common side effects may include:
- hair loss;
- bone fracture;
- itchy, raised red patches of skin; or
- cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat.
