What is Salicylic acid and sodium thiosulfate topical?
Sodium thiosulfate is an antifungal medicine that fights infections caused by fungus.
Salicylic acid helps your skin absorb the sodium thiosulfate.
Salicylic acid and sodium thiosulfate topical (for the skin) is a combination medicine used to treat a skin infection called tinea versicolor, that appears as white patches on the skin.
Salicylic acid and sodium thiosulfate topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

How should I take Salicylic acid and sodium thiosulfate topical
Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not use this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Wash your hands before and after applying this medicine, unless you are using it to treat a hand condition.
Before you apply this medicine, wash and thoroughly dry the infected skin.
Shake the lotion well just before each use.
Apply this medication only to the infected skin area. Try not to get any medicine on the healthy skin around the treated area.
Do not cover the treated skin area unless your doctor tells you to.
Rinse with water if this medicine gets in your eyes.
Use salicylic acid and sodium thiosulfate topical regularly to get the most benefit. Get your prescription refilled before you run out of medicine completely.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

You should not use salicylic acid and sodium thiosulfate topical if you are allergic to salicylic acid, sodium thiosulfate, or sulfa drugs.
It is not known whether salicylic acid and sodium thiosulfate topical will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using this medicine.
It is not known whether salicylic acid and sodium thiosulfate topical passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
What happens if I overdose?
An overdose of salicylic acid and sodium thiosulfate topical is not expected to be dangerous. Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222 if anyone has accidentally swallowed the medication.
What should I avoid while using Salicylic acid and sodium thiosulfate topical?
Do not take by mouth. salicylic acid and sodium thiosulfate topical is for use only on the skin. Do not use this medicine on open wounds or on scraped, irritated, or damaged skin. If this medicine gets in your eyes, nose, mouth, rectum, or vagina, rinse with water.
Avoid using other medications on the areas you treat with salicylic acid and sodium thiosulfate topical unless your doctor tells you to.
