What is Sucroferric oxyhydroxide?
Sucroferric oxyhydroxide is used to control phosphorus levels in people with chronic kidney disease who are on dialysis.

How should I take Sucroferric oxyhydroxide
Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
Sucroferric oxyhydroxide works best if you take it with meals.
The chewable tablet must be chewed or crushed before you swallow it.
You may need frequent blood tests.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.

What happens if I miss a dose?
Take the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take two doses at one time.

Sucroferric oxyhydroxide side effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have a skin rash.
Common side effects of sucroferric oxyhydroxide may include:

darker color in your bowel movements.

If you take levothyroxine: take it at least 4 hours before you take sucroferric oxyhydroxide.
If you take doxycycline, aspirin, or cephalexin: take it at least 1 hour before you take sucroferric oxyhydroxide.
Other drugs may affect sucroferric oxyhydroxide, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell your doctor about all your current medicines and any medicine you start or stop using.
