What is Vtama?
Tapinarof topical (for the skin) is used to treat plaque psoriasis in adults.
Tapinarof topical may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
How should I use Vtama
Use Vtama (Topical) exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
Tapinarof topical is applied once per day. Follow your doctor's instructions.
Use only a small amount of medicine. Apply a thin layer to affected areas of the skin only.
Do not use in your mouth, eyes, or genitals. Topical medicine is for use only on the skin.
Wash your hands before and after applying this medicine, unless you are using it to treat a hand condition.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Do not freeze.
Apply the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not apply two doses at one time.
Vtama side effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficult breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Common side effects may include:
- folliculitis (redness or crusting around your hair follicles);
- stuffy nose, sore throat;
- skin rash or irritation;
- itching, peeling, burning, or stinging;
- headache; or
- flu-like symptoms.
