Serious side effects

WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect:

• Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
• Change in eyesight, eye pain, or very bad eye irritation.
• Fast or slow heartbeat.
• A heartbeat that does not feel normal.
• Diarrhea.
• Not able to control bladder.
• More saliva.
• Muscle weakness.
• Sweating a lot.
• Shortness of breath.

Other side effects

All drugs may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or get medical help if any of these side effects or any other side effects bother you or do not go away:

• Eye irritation.
• Burning.
• Stinging.
• Tearing.
• Eye redness.
• Blurred eyesight.
• Eyelid twitching.
• Headache.

General

Adverse reactions are anticholinergic in nature and include dry mouth, constipation, tachycardia, and blurred vision.^[Ref]

Ocular

Frequency not reported: Retinal detachment, activation of latent iritis or uveitis, lacrimation, conjunctival and ciliary redness, induced myopia with visual blurring, brow ache, lid muscle twitching, stinging, burning, iris cysts, conjunctival thickening (with prolonged use), obstruction of nasolacrimal canals, lens opacities, paradoxical increase in intraocular pressure (IOP)^[Ref]

Drug-associated iris cysts enlargement that may obscure vision has been reported more frequently in children if treatment is continued.

Anticholinesterase instillation-associated paradoxical increase in intraocular pressure (IOP).^[Ref]
