What is it?
Light mineral oil is a mild laxative for the lubrication of the intestinal tract. Mineral oil relieves occasional constipation (irregularity) and generally produces bowel movement in 6 to 8 hours. It may be used orally or rectally depending upon the product. Baby oil is a mineral oil that may be scented. It is also used as a common ingredient in lotions, creams, ointments, and cosmetics. Mineral oil is also called 'liquid petroleum,' 'paraffin oil,' and 'white mineral oil.' Mineral oil is also used as a general purpose lubricant in industry.
