Lutetium lu 177 dotatate Side Effects

Applies to lutetium lu 177 dotatate: intravenous solution.

Serious side effects

Along with its needed effects, lutetium lu 177 dotatate may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking lutetium lu 177 dotatate:

More common

  • Agitation
  • anxiety
  • black, tarry stools
  • bleeding gums
  • blood in the urine or stools
  • blurred vision
  • chills
  • cold sweats
  • confusion
  • cool, pale skin
  • cough
  • decreased urine output
  • diarrhea
  • difficulty in breathing
  • dizziness
  • dry mouth
  • feeling of warmth
  • fever
  • flushed, dry skin
  • fruit-like breath odor
  • headache
  • hoarseness
  • hostility
  • increased hunger
  • increased thirst
  • increased urination
  • irritability
  • joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  • loss of appetite
  • loss of consciousness
  • lower back, side, arm, leg, or stomach pain
  • mood changes
  • mood or mental changes
  • muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  • muscle pain or twitching
  • nausea
  • nervousness
  • nightmares
  • numbness and tingling around the mouth, lips, hands, fingertips, or feet
  • painful or difficult urination
  • pale skin
  • pinpoint red spots on the skin
  • pounding in the ears
  • rapid weight gain
  • redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  • restlessness
  • seizures
  • shakiness
  • slow, fast, or irregular heartbeat
  • slurred speech
  • sore throat
  • sweating
  • swelling of the face, feet, lower legs, ankles, or hands
  • tremor
  • troubled breathing
  • troubled breathing with exertion
  • ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  • unexplained weight loss
  • unusual bleeding or bruising
  • unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness
  • vomiting
  • weakness or heaviness of the legs

Less common

  • Bone pain
  • chest pain or discomfort
  • dilated neck veins
  • dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  • extreme tiredness or weakness
  • irregular breathing
  • pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  • swollen glands

Other side effects

Some side effects of lutetium lu 177 dotatate may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.

Hematologic

Common (1% to 10%): Lymphopenia, leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia[Ref]

Musculoskeletal

Common (1% to 10%): Back pain, pain in extremity, myalgia, neck pain[Ref]

Metabolic

Common (1% to 10%): Decreased appetite, hyperglycemia, hypocalcemia, hypokalemia, hyperkalemia, hypernatremia, hypoglycemia[Ref]

Psychiatric

Common (1% to 10%): Anxiety[Ref]

Hepatic

Common (1% to 10%): GGT increased, alkaline phosphatase increased, AST increased, ALT increased, blood bilirubin increased[Ref]

Respiratory

Common (1% to 10%): Cough[Ref]

Other

Common (1% to 10%): Fatigue, peripheral edema, pyrexia[Ref]

Nervous system

Common (1% to 10%): Headache, dizziness, dysgeusia[Ref]

Renal

Common (1% to 10%): Renal failure (glomerular filtration rate decreased, acute kidney injury, acute prerenal failure, azotemia, renal disorder, renal failure, renal impairment); hyperuricemia; creatinine increased[Ref]

Cardiovascular

Common (1% to 10%): Atrial fibrillation, flushing, hypertension[Ref]

Dermatologic

Common (1% to 10%): Alopecia

Gastrointestinal

Common (1% to 10%): Nausea, vomiting abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation[Ref]

Genitourinary

Common (1% to 10%): Radiation related urinary tract toxicity (dysuria, micturition urgency, nocturia, pollakiuria, renal colic, renal pain, urinary tract pain and urinary incontinence)
