How is Vyepti given?
Vyepti (eptinezumab) is given as an intravenous (IV) infusion in your doctor's office usually 4 times per year. You do not give this medicine to yourself. The infusion takes about 30 minutes and your healthcare provider will monitor you for any side effects. Once your infusion is done, you can leave the infusion center and continue your daily activities.
Vyepti is used to prevent migraine headaches in adults.
What side effects may I see with Vyepti?
In studies, the most common side effects that occurred in at least 2 out of every 100 patients (2%) were common cold symptoms like stuffy nose and scratchy throat and allergic reactions. Vyepti is typically well tolerated, with less than 2% of patients dropping out of research studies due to a side effect.
Allergic reactions were not frequent in research studies. In studies on over 2,000 patients, 1% to 2% of patients had an allergic reaction (also called a hypersensitivity reaction).
- Some allergic reactions, such as anaphylaxis and angioedema, may be serious and or life-threatening and require immediate medical attention.
- Most allergic reactions occurred during the infusion at the clinic, were not serious, but often led to discontinuation of the medicine or required treatment.
- Inform your health care provider right away if you have any chest tightness, a cough, rash or itching, redness or flushing of the face, trouble breathing or swallowing, the development of large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs, or unusual tiredness or weakness while you are receiving this medicine.
