Depression - SAMe & Drowsiness? Night or Day?

Posted on 13-Jul-2023 - Last updated: 13-Jul-2023

I started taking SAMe (400 mg in the morning) for mild depression, but found it makes me very sleepy during? the day about 4 hours after taking it. This doesn't seem to be a common side effect; so I'm wondering if I should start taking it at night (I have some sleeping issues as well), or if this is a sign of a contraindication and I should stop taking it all together?

I have also been taking 100mg of 5-HTP at night, don't know if that would have any interaction as well. Thanks for any feedback!
