Lantus (insulin glargine) is a man made long acting insulin, used to control blood glucose levels in diabetes.

Does Unopened (not in-use) Lantus insulin need to be refrigerated:

  • Yes, Lantus SoloStar or Lantus 10ml multiple dose vial should be kept in the refrigerator (36°F to 46°F [2°C to 8°C]).

Does Opened (in-use) Lantus insulin need to be refrigerated:

  • Lantus SoloStar should be kept at room temperature (up to up to 86°F (30°C)) and NOT in the refrigerator, once you have started using it.
  • Lantus 10ml multiple dose vial can be kept at room temperature (up to up to 86°F (30°C)) or in the refrigerator (36°F to 6°F (2°C to 8°C)), once you have started using it.

How long does Lantus last once you have started using it?

  • Once you start using a new Lantus Solostar or Lantus 10ml multiple dose vial you should discard it after 28 days.
