How long does it take for Soolantra to start working?

Answers by TheMediTary.Com - Last updated: 05-Aug-2023

How quickly does Soolantra work?

  • In two clinical studies, Soolantra (ivermectin 1%) cream was more effective than a vehicle cream (a topical cream without drug) starting at 4 weeks after the beginning of treatment.
  • In one U.S. study, patients saw 27% fewer bumps and blemishes after 2 weeks, and up to 75% fewer symptoms after 12 weeks.

Soolantra (ivermectin 1%) cream is used to treat a certain type of adult acne called rosacea. Soolantra is approved to be used once a day on the face only, or as directed by your doctor.

The most common side effects with Soolantra (ivermectin 1%) include a skin burning sensation and skin irritation.

How well does Soolantra work?

In two, 12-week long clinical studies, 38.2% and 40.1% of patients with rosacea were reported as “clear” or “almost clear” by the investigator as compared to 11.6% and 18.8% of patients receiving a vehicle (topical cream without the drug).

Researchers evaluated the change in inflammatory lesions after 12 weeks in both studies. In patients receiving Soolanta, lesions declined by 64.9% and 65.7% compared to a 41.6% and 43.45 decline in the group using the vehicle cream.

In these studies, Soolantra or the vehicle were once applied daily at bedtime.

In the studies submitted to the FDA, investigators used the 5-point Investigator Global Assessment (IGA) scale to assess severity of rosacea:

  • 0=clear
  • 1=almost clear
  • 2=mild
  • 3=moderate
  • 4=severe

At the beginning of the study before treatment, 79% of subjects were scored as moderate (IGA=3) and 21% were scored as severe (IGA= 4).

How long does Soolantra work?

  • In a year-long study conducted in the U.S., 71% of patients were rated as “clear” or “almost clear” after using ivermectin (Soolantra) 1% cream once daily on their face.
  • Ivermectin 1% was also shown to be safe and effective for up to 52 weeks of total treatment.
  • Continue to use Soolantra cream as long as directed by your doctor.

This is not all the information you need to know about Soolantra (ivermectin 1% cream) for safe and effective use and does not take the place of talking to your doctor about your treatment. Review the full Soolantra information here, and discuss this information and any questions you have with your doctor or other health care provider.
