What is Entresto used for?
Entresto (sacubitril and valsartan), from the drug manufacturer Novartis, is used to treat patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) to lower the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization for heart failure. Entresto relaxes blood vessels, improves blood flow, and reduces stress on the heart.
- Entresto is a combination medication that contains the neprilysin inhibitor sacubitril and the angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) valsartan (brand name: Diovan).
- It helps to improve your heart’s ability to pump blood to the body. Entresto is usually given together with other heart medications or in place of an ACE inhibitor or other ARB.

If you have commercial insurance (for example: Blue Cross Blue Shield or Cigna), you may be able to get Entresto for $10 per refill using a copay card supplied by Novartis. Entresto is covered for 76% of commercial and privately insured patients, but your out-of-pocket costs will vary.
Eligible commercially insured patients can receive a 30-, 60-, or 90-day supply of Entresto for no more than a $10 co-pay. You can get your $10 copay card from the Novartis website. It has a combined annual limit up to $2500. After that, you will be responsible for any costs once your $2500 limit is reached per calendar year.
Call your prescription insurance company and ask about coverage for Entresto and if they accept the copay card. This offer is not valid under Medicare, Medicaid, or any other federal or state program. You can sign up for the copay card on the Novartis website.
Medicare
If you have Medicare, Entresto has preferred coverage for more than 95% of people with Medicare. On average: 80% of people with Medicare Part D pay less than $50 a month out-of-pocket for their Entresto prescription over 50% of people with Medicare Part D pay $10 or less for their prescription each month.
