Is there a Restasis savings or copay card?

Answers by TheMediTary.Com - Last updated: 14-Jul-2023

You can sign up for a Restasis Savings Card through the My Tears, My Rewards program from Allergan. If you qualify and have a valid prescription, you may be able to pay as little as $0 for up to a 90-day supply of Restasis. You can sign up online or call 1-844-4MY-TEARS (1-844-469-8327).

You can receive the Allergan My Tears, My Rewards Savings Card immediately, either by printing or receiving via a text message.

Depending upon your insurance and eligibility, you may pay:

  • As little as $0 for up to 12 of Restasis single-use vials (30-day supply) OR up to 4 of the Restasis single-use vials (90-day supply), OR
  • As little as $0 for up to 12 of Restasis MultiDose bottles (30-day supply) OR up to 4 of the Restasis MultiDose bottles (90-day supply)

Check with your pharmacist for your Restasis copay card savings. Out-of-pocket cost will vary between patients.

Who is not eligible for the Restasis Savings Card?

If you are enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage or another federal, state, or government-funded healthcare program (such as Medigap, TRICARE, Dept. of Defense or Veterans Affairs programs), private indemnity or certain HMO insurance plans you may not be eligible for the savings card. This offer is also not valid for cash-paying patients.

You must be a citizen of the U.S. or Puerto Rico to qualify for the card.

How do I get Restasis if I don't have insurance?

Allergan also provides a patient assistance program in the US for eligible patients who cannot afford their medicines. To apply, work with your doctor to submit the application to AbbVie. You can download the application from the AbbVie website or call 1-844-4MY-TEARS (1-844-469-8327).

Restasis is now available as a generic option for the single-use vials which may help you to save money at the pharmacy. The generic is just as safe and effective as the brand name product. It comes in a 0.05% strength, and is packaged in 30 or 60 single-dose vials.

Why is Restasis prescribed?

Restasis (cyclosporine) ophthalmic emulsion is a prescription product approved by the FDA to treat chronic dry eye (keratoconjunctivitis sicca) caused by eye inflammation. It helps you to make more of your own tears. The usual dose is one drop in each eye twice a day, about 12 hours apart.

Common side effects include temporary burning in the eye, eye redness or discharge, blurred vision, eye tearing, eye pain, itching, and feeling like something foreign is in your eye.

What is dry eye disease?

Dry eye disease occurs when the tear glands fail to keep the eye’s surface properly lubricated. Ongoing dryness of the cornea and conjunctiva can lead to a thickened cornea and reduced vision. Symptoms typically occur in both eyes.

Chronic dry eyes can be caused by many factors, including aging, excessive computer use, the environment, such as wind or smoke, certain medical conditions or medications, blocked meibomian glands (small glands on the edge of your eyelids), and allergies.

Signs and symptoms may include:

  • Burning or stinging in the eye
  • Scratchy sensation in your eyes
  • Light sensitivity
  • Blurred vision
  • Dried mucous around the eyes
  • Red eyes
  • Tired eyes
  • Eye tearing
  • Trouble wearing your contacts
  • Trouble with driving at night
