Proxalin-Plus (naproxen/paracetamol) is a pain reliever that’s available in Mexico. It’s used to treat fever and pain that occurs with various conditions, including:

These products contain varying strengths of naproxen and paracetamol, with a maximum of 550 mg naproxen and 500 mg paracetamol in each tablet.
The dosage of Proxalin-Plus varies based on the condition being treated. For example:

  • A typical starting dose (given in milligrams of naproxen) for adults with osteoarthritis is 250 mg to 500 mg or 275 mg to 550 mg orally twice a day.
  • For pain due to menstrual cramps, a typical starting dose for adults (in milligrams of naproxen) is 550 mg orally once, followed by 550 mg every 12 hours, or 250 mg to 275 mg every 6 to 8 hours as needed.
  • Dosage for children is based on body weight.

Side effects may include:

  • Stomach upset
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Hearing problems or ringing in the ears
  • Serious side effects may include:
  • Skin blisters
  • Rash
  • Itching and hives
  • Painful urination
  • Bruising

In the United States, naproxen (Aleve) and acetaminophen (Tylenol) are available over the counter as separate products. The maximum daily dose of naproxen is 660 mg. The maximum daily dose of acetaminophen is 4,000 mg.

In 2020, Advil Dual Action was approved. It contains 250 mg acetaminophen and 125 mg ibuprofen. Ibuprofen belongs to the same class of medications as naproxen. The typical dosages are:

  • Adults and children ages 12 and older: 2 caplets every 8 hours
  • Children under age 12: check with your doctor

The maximum daily dose of Advil Dual Action is 6 caplets.
