- If you are allergic to this medicine (cabozantinib capsules); any part of this medicine (cabozantinib capsules); or any other drugs, foods, or substances. Tell your doctor about the allergy and what signs you had.
- If you have active bleeding or you are at risk for very bad bleeding.
- If you have had recent bleeding or coughing up blood.
- If you have any of these health problems: High blood pressure or liver disease.
- If you take any other drugs (prescription or OTC, natural products, vitamins). There are many drugs that interact with this medicine (cabozantinib capsules), like certain drugs that are used for HIV, infections, or seizures.
- If you are breast-feeding. Do not breast-feed while you take this medicine (cabozantinib capsules) or for 4 months after your last dose.

- Tell all of your health care providers that you take this medicine (cabozantinib capsules). This includes your doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and dentists.
- This medicine may affect how wounds heal. If you have surgery, you may need to stop this medicine (cabozantinib capsules) before surgery. Start taking it again after surgery as you are told by your doctor.

- High blood pressure has happened with this medicine (cabozantinib capsules). Have your blood pressure checked as you have been told by your doctor.
- Low blood cell counts have happened with this medicine (cabozantinib capsules). If blood cell counts get very low, this can lead to bleeding problems, infections, or anemia. Call your doctor right away if you have signs of infection like fever, chills, or sore throat; any unexplained bruising or bleeding; or if you feel very tired or weak.
- You may bleed more easily. Be careful and avoid injury. Use a soft toothbrush and an electric razor. Rarely, some bleeding problems have been deadly.
- Call your doctor right away if you have any signs of bleeding problems, like bruising; black, tarry, or bloody stools; bleeding gums; blood in the urine; coughing up blood; cuts that take a long time to stop bleeding; feel dizzy; feeling very tired or weak; nosebleeds; pain or swelling; throwing up blood or throw up that looks like coffee grounds; or very bad headache.
- Very bad and sometimes deadly holes in the GI (gastrointestinal) tract or fistulas have happened with this medicine (cabozantinib capsules). Talk with the doctor.
- Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice.
- A very bad and sometimes deadly brain problem called posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) has happened with this medicine (cabozantinib capsules). Call your doctor right away if you have signs like feeling confused, lowered alertness, change in eyesight, loss of eyesight, seizures, or very bad headache.
- Blood clots have happened with this medicine (cabozantinib capsules). Sometimes, blood clots like stroke have been deadly. Call your doctor right away if you have chest, arm, back, neck, or jaw pain or pressure; coughing up blood; numbness or weakness on 1 side of your body, trouble speaking or thinking, change in balance, or change in eyesight; shortness of breath; or swelling, warmth, or pain in the leg or arm.
- Severe jaw problems have happened. Have a dental exam before you start this medicine (cabozantinib capsules). Take good care of your teeth.
- This medicine may affect fertility. Fertility problems may lead to not being able to get pregnant or father a child.
- This medicine may cause harm to an unborn baby. A pregnancy test will be done before you start this medicine (cabozantinib capsules) to show that you are NOT pregnant.
- Women must use birth control while taking this medicine (cabozantinib capsules) and for some time after the last dose. Ask your doctor how long to use birth control. If you get pregnant, call your doctor right away.
How is this medicine (Cabozantinib Capsules) best taken?
Use this medicine (cabozantinib capsules) as ordered by your doctor. Read all information given to you. Follow all instructions closely.
- Take this medicine (cabozantinib capsules) on an empty stomach. Take at least 1 hour before or at least 2 hours after a meal.
- Swallow whole. Do not chew, break, or crush.
- Take with a full glass of water.
- Do not open the capsules.
- Keep taking this medicine (cabozantinib capsules) as you have been told by your doctor or other health care provider, even if you feel well.
What do I do if I miss a dose?
- Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it and go back to your normal time.
- If it is less than 12 hours until the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time.
- Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.
What are some side effects that I need to call my doctor about right away?
WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect:
- Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
- Signs of high or low blood pressure like very bad headache or dizziness, passing out, or change in eyesight.
- Signs of fluid and electrolyte problems like mood changes, confusion, muscle pain or weakness, a heartbeat that does not feel normal, very bad dizziness or passing out, fast heartbeat, more thirst, seizures, feeling very tired or weak, not hungry, unable to pass urine or change in the amount of urine produced, dry mouth, dry eyes, or very bad upset stomach or throwing up.
- Signs of low thyroid levels like constipation; not able to handle cold; memory problems; mood changes; or a burning, numbness, or tingling feeling that is not normal.
- Sweating a lot.
- Trouble walking.
- Shortness of breath.
- Coughing, gagging, or choking (mainly when eating or drinking).
- Skin wound that will not heal.
- Jaw pain.
- Mouth sores.
- Redness or irritation of the palms of hands or soles of feet.
- Swelling in the arms or legs.
- A burning, numbness, or tingling feeling that is not normal.
What are some other side effects of Cabozantinib Capsules?
All drugs may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or get medical help if any of these side effects or any other side effects bother you or do not go away:
- Feeling dizzy, tired, or weak.
- Stomach pain.
- Weight loss.
- Constipation.
- Mouth irritation.
- Change in taste.
- Headache.
- Joint pain.
- Muscle spasm.
- Change in voice.
- Dry skin.
- Diarrhea, throwing up, upset stomach, and feeling less hungry are common with this medicine (cabozantinib capsules). If these happen, talk with your doctor about ways to lower these side effects. Call your doctor right away if any of these effects bother you, do not get better, or get very bad.
- Hair loss.
- Change in color of hair.
- Anxiety.
- Change in skin to hard and thick.
