Other names: Abdominal Radiological Procedures
An abdominal radiological procedure is an imaging procedure used to help see structures inside the abdominal area of the body. This may be used for diagnostic purposes to find the cause of symptoms, screen for illness, or may also be used to monitor how well the body is responding to medical treatment.
Abdominal radiology may also be used to help guide medical procedures for diagnosis and treatment of conditions. The image guided procedure helps doctor inserting wires, catheters and small instruments into the body through small incisions rather than needing to look directly inside the body with open surgery or the use of scopes. This is minimally invasive and reduces the risk to patient.
