Chronic rhinosinusitis is when the lining inside the nose and sinus spaces are swollen and inflamed for a period of time of three months or longer. Nasal polyps are soft, noncancerous growths on the lining of nasal passages and sinuses, polyps can occur together with chronic rhinosinusitis.
Often chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) are associated with allergies, asthma, recurring infections, immune disorders and drug sensitivity.
Symptoms are ongoing and can include:
- Pressure or pain in the sinus areas of the face, the cheek area, below the eyes, and the forehead
- Nasal congestion and blockage
- Difficulty in breathing through your nose which can cause mouth breathing
- Post nasal drip
- Reduced sense of taste
- Bad breath
