Other names: Alkaline Vagina
Vaginal pH Imbalance is when the pH of the vagina varies from the usually slightly acid pH 3.8 - 4.2 . The usual acidic environment helps retard the growth of pathogenic microbes. When the vaginal pH increases to above 4.5 it is considered alkaline and may be caused by bacterial overgrowth.
