Precautions

Administration advice:
- Apply an analgesic lubricant gel to urethra prior to insertion of catheter to avoid spasm.
- Administration of an oral analgesic medication or suppository containing belladonna and opium prior to instillation can reduce bladder spasms.
- The initial treatment, and possibly the second and third should be done under anesthesia (saddle block) in patients with severe interstitial cystitis and very sensitive bladders.
Storage requirements:
- Store at 20C to 25C (68F to 77F).
- Protect from strong light.
Monitoring:
- Approximately every 6 months patients receiving this drug should have a biochemical screening, particularly liver and renal function tests, and complete blood count.
