What is Striverdi respimat?

Striverdi is a bronchodilator. It works by relaxing muscles in the airways to improve breathing.

Striverdi Respimat is used to control the symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

Striverdi Respimat will not treat a bronchospasm attack that has already begun.

Warnings

Striverdi Respimat is for use only in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and should not be used to treat asthma. Olodaterol may increase the risk of death or hospitalization in people with asthma

Striverdi may increase the risk of death in people with asthma, but the risk in people with COPD is not known. Use only the prescribed dose of this medicine, and do not use it for longer than your doctor recommends. Follow all patient instructions for safe use.

Seek medical attention if your breathing problems get worse quickly, or if you think your medication is not working as well.

How should I take Striverdi respimat

Use Striverdi Respimat exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Using too much of this medicine can cause life-threatening side effects.

Use Striverdi Respimat at the same time each day, even if you feel well.

Read and carefully follow any Instructions for Use provided with your medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you do not understand these instructions.

Use only the inhaler device provided with your medicine or you may not get the correct dose. Use the new inhaler each time you get your prescription refilled.

Striverdi Respimat is not a rescue medicine for bronchospasm attacks. Use only fast-acting inhalation medicine for an attack. Seek medical attention if your breathing problems get worse quickly, or if you think your medications are not working as well.

Do not change your dose or stop using your medicine without your doctor's advice.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Do not freeze.

Usual Adult Dose for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease:

-5 mcg (2 inhalations) orally once a day

Use: Maintenance bronchodilator treatment of airflow obstruction in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and/or emphysema

What happens if I miss a dose?

Use the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not use two doses at one time.

Do not use the medicine more than once in a 24-hour period.

What happens if I overdose?

Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line at 1-800-222-1222. An overdose of olodaterol can be fatal.

Overdose symptoms may include chest pain, fast or irregular heartbeats, nervousness, tremor, muscle cramps, feeling light-headed, and fainting.

What should I avoid while using Striverdi respimat?

Avoid getting this medicine in your eyes.

Do not use a second inhaled bronchodilator that contains olodaterol or a similar medicine (such as formoterol, arformoterol, indacaterol, salmeterol, or vilanterol).

Striverdi respimat side effects

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Striverdi Respimat: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor at once if you have:

  • tremors, nervousness, chest pain, fast or pounding heartbeats;

  • wheezing, choking, or other breathing problems after using this medicine;

  • worsening breathing problems;

  • high blood sugar - increased thirst, increased urination, dry mouth, fruity breath odor; or

  • low potassium level - leg cramps, constipation, irregular heartbeats, fluttering in your chest, numbness or tingling, muscle weakness or limp feeling.

Common Striverdi Respimat side effects may include:

  • cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, sore throat;

  • cough, shortness of breath, chest discomfort;

  • diarrhea;

  • dizziness;

  • pain or burning when you urinate;

  • back pain, joint pain; or

  • rash.

This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

What other drugs will affect Striverdi respimat?

If you also use a short-acting bronchodilator, do not use it daily while you are using Striverdi Respimat. Use the short-acting bronchodilator only for a sudden bronchospasm attack.

Other drugs may interact with olodaterol, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell your doctor about all your current medicines and any medicine you start or stop using.
