Comments:
-This drug is poorly absorbed after oral administration, with almost 100% of the drug recoverable in feces; little drug would be available to reach the fetus.
Animal studies have not been reported. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
In 1 report, 2 women were treated with this drug for 10 days for symptomatic Giardia infections during the 10th and 20th week of pregnancy. No congenital malformations or fetal toxicity were reported.
