Warning
Oral route (Tablet; Capsule)
NSAIDs may cause an increased risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events, myocardial infarction, and stroke, which can be fatal. This risk may be increased with duration of use and in patients with cardiovascular disease or risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Tolmetin is contraindicated for the treatment of perioperative pain in the setting of CABG surgery. NSAIDs can also cause an increased risk of serious, sometimes fatal, gastrointestinal adverse events (eg, bleeding, ulceration, and perforation of the stomach or intestines), especially in the elderly. These events can occur at any time during use and without warning.
