Hepatic Veno-Occlusive Disease is condition that occurs when there is an obstruction of the small veins and hepatic sinusoids. This can be caused by chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant, or eating or drinking alkaloids which are contained in some plants, herbs and teas. Symptoms include enlarged liver, increased bilirubin and weight gain due to fluid retention.
