Varubi Side Effects

Note: This document contains side effect information about rolapitant. Some dosage forms listed on this page may not apply to the brand name Varubi.

Applies to rolapitant: oral tablet.

Serious side effects of Varubi

Along with its needed effects, rolapitant (the active ingredient contained in Varubi) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking rolapitant:

More common

  • Black, tarry stools
  • chills
  • cough
  • difficult, burning, or painful urination
  • fever
  • lower back or side pain
  • pale skin
  • sore throat
  • trouble breathing
  • ulcers, sores, or white spots in the mouth
  • unusual bleeding or bruising
  • unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  • Bladder pain
  • bloody or cloudy urine
  • frequent urge to urinate

Other side effects of Varubi

Some side effects of rolapitant may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.

Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  • Decreased appetite
  • dizziness

Less common

  • Acid or sour stomach
  • belching
  • heartburn
  • hiccups
  • indigestion
  • stomach discomfort, upset, or pain

Applies to rolapitant: intravenous emulsion, oral tablet.

General

The most commonly reported side effects included decreased appetite, neutropenia, dizziness, and hiccups.[Ref]

Gastrointestinal

Common (1% to 10%): Abdominal pain, constipation, dyspepsia, stomatitis

Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Abdominal distention, diarrhea, nausea, oral fungal infection

Rare (less than 0.1%): Abdominal discomfort, bowel habit change, dry mouth, gastroesophageal reflux disease, oral candidiasis, retching[Ref]

Nervous system

Common (1% to 10%): Dizziness, headache

Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Disturbance in attention, dysgeusia, somnolence

Rare (less than 0.1%): Balance disorder, movement disorder, syncope[Ref]

Hematologic

Common (1% to 10%): Anemia, neutropenia

Rare (less than 0.1%): Decreased neutrophil count, increased international normalized ratio (INR), leukopenia, thrombocytopenia[Ref]

Metabolic

Common (1% to 10%): Decreased appetite

Rare (less than 0.1%): Dehydration, hypomagnesemia[Ref]

Respiratory

Common (1% to 10%): Hiccups[Ref]

Genitourinary

Common (1% to 10%): Urinary tract infection[Ref]

Musculoskeletal

Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Myalgia

Rare (less than 0.1%): Arthralgia, back pain, muscular weakness, rhabdomyolysis[Ref]

Other

Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Asthenia

Rare (less than 0.1%): Gait disturbance, hypoacusis, tinnitus[Ref]

Psychiatric

Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Insomnia

Rare (less than 0.1%): Anxiety, bruxism[Ref]

Dermatologic

Rare (less than 0.1%): Acneiform dermatitis, alopecia, dry skin[Ref]

Hypersensitivity

Rare (less than 0.1%): Angioedema, hypersensitivity[Ref]

Cardiovascular

Rare (less than 0.1%): Hypertension, increased heart rate[Ref]

Immunologic

Rare (less than 0.1%): Candidiasis[Ref]

Ocular

Rare (less than 0.1%): Blurred vision[Ref]
