Glutamine has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal reproduction studies have not been reported. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Glutamine should only be given during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.

There are no data on the excretion of glutamine into human milk following oral administration. The effects in the nursing infant are unknown. The manufacturer recommends that caution be used when administering glutamine to nursing women.
