Drug Class: Antacids
Usual Adult Dose for Dyspepsia
ORAL SUSPENSION:
Aluminum hydroxide 95 mg-magnesium carbonate 358 mg/15 mL: 15 to 30 mL orally up to 4 times a day after meals and at bedtime as needed or as directed
- Maximum dose: 120 mL/day
Aluminum hydroxide 254 mg-magnesium carbonate 237.5 mg/5 mL: 10 to 20 mL orally up to 4 times a day after meals and at bedtime as needed or as directed
- Maximum dose: 80 mL/day
TABLETS:
Aluminum hydroxide 160 mg-magnesium carbonate 105 mg: 2 to 4 tablets orally up to 4 times a day after meals and at bedtime as needed or as directed
- Maximum dose: 16 tablets/day
Duration of therapy: Up to 2 weeks
Comment: Patients should avoid swallowing tablets whole.
Uses:
- Relief of acid indigestion, heartburn, or sour stomach
- Relief of upset stomach associated with acid indigestion, heartburn, or sour stomach

Administration advice:
- Oral solution: Shake well prior to measuring dose; measure with the included measuring device.
- Tablets: Patients should avoid swallowing the tablets whole; tablets should be taken with half a glass of water or other liquid.
Storage requirements:
- Oral solution: Protect from freezing; keep tightly closed when not in use.
- Tablets: Protect from moisture.
Patient advice:
- Advise patients to speak to their healthcare provider if they become pregnant, intend to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
- Patients should be instructed to avoid using products if the tamper evident feature(s) are torn, broken, and/or missing.
