Ciclesonide nasal Side Effects

Applies to ciclesonide nasal: nasal aerosol liquid, nasal spray.

Serious side effects of Ciclesonide nasal

Along with its needed effects, ciclesonide nasal may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking ciclesonide nasal:

Less common

  • Bloody nose
  • fever
  • headache
  • muscle aches
  • nasal discomfort
  • sore throat
  • stuffy or runny nose
  • unusual tiredness or weakness

Rare

  • Acne or pimples
  • blindness
  • blistering, burning, crusting, dryness, or flaking of the skin
  • bloody mucus or unexplained nosebleeds
  • blurred vision
  • change in vision
  • darkening of the skin
  • decreased vision
  • diarrhea
  • difficulty with breathing or troubled breathing
  • difficulty with swallowing
  • dizziness
  • eye pain
  • fainting
  • hives
  • itching, scaling, severe redness, soreness, or swelling of the skin
  • loss of appetite
  • loss of consciousness
  • loss of vision
  • menstrual changes
  • mental depression
  • nausea
  • reddening of the skin, especially around the ears
  • skin rash
  • swelling of the eyes, eyelids, face, or inside of the nose
  • tearing
  • tightness in the chest
  • vomiting
  • weight gain around the face, neck, and trunk
  • wheezing
  • white patches inside the nose or throat

Other side effects of Ciclesonide nasal

Some side effects of ciclesonide nasal may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.

The most commonly reported side effects were headache, epistaxis, nasopharyngitis, and ear pain.[Ref]

Frequency not reported: Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis effects[Ref]

Immunologic

Common (1% to 10%): Influenza

Frequency not reported: Candida albicans infections, immunosuppression[Ref]

Hypersensitivity

Postmarketing reports: Hypersensitivity reactions (angioedema with swelling of the lips, tongue, and pharynx)[Ref]

Respiratory

Common (1% to 10%): Nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection, pharyngolaryngeal pain, sinusitis, nasal discomfort, cough, bronchitis, epistaxis

Frequency not reported: Nasal dryness, nasal mucosal/septum disorders, pharyngitis, streptococcal pharyngitis, tonsillitis, nasal septal perforations

Postmarketing reports: Nasal congestion, nasal ulcer[Ref]

Ocular

Postmarketing reports: Development or worsening of lens opacities, increase in intraocular pressure, worsening visual acuity[Ref]

Other

Common (1% to 10%): Ear pain

Frequency not reported: Impaired wound healing, ear infection[Ref]
