Use: Maintenance of remission of ulcerative colitis in patients who are intolerant of sulfasalazine

• Hypersensitivity to the active component, other salicylates, or any of the ingredients

Administration advice:

• Take with food or after meals.
• This drug should be administered in evenly divided doses.

• Store in a tightly closed container; protect from moisture.

• HEMATOLOGIC: Signs/symptoms of hematoxicity (e.g., anemia, bruising, fever, mouth ulcers, purpura, sore mouth, unexplained bleeding)
• HYPERSENSITIVITY: Worsening signs/symptoms in patients with severe allergies/asthma
• RENAL: Urinalysis, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and serum creatinine should be measured every 3 months for the first year, then every 6 months for the next 4 years, and finally once a year for 5 years

• Inform patients that this drug may cause dizziness or blurred vision, and they should avoid driving or operating machinery if these side effects occur.
• Advise patients to speak to their healthcare provider if they become pregnant, intend to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
• Patients should be instructed to contact their healthcare provider if hematoxicity or diarrhea occurs during treatment.
